Age: Physical Age - 24, Chronological Age - 442
Gender: Male
Personality:
Appearance:
- Calm - Despite his many different whims and ways of going about life, Shuun often remains calm even in the face of danger. He can think quite well under pressure and doesn't get panic-stricken. He doesn't get angry too often because he either lets things fly past him if they are meant to be insults or he will come up with a remark that will put the offender off-guard. This personality trait also helps his greatly in battle because he does not feel any great pressure from being in a life and death situation, knowing that he has to take things one at a time as they come to him in life and shouldn't worry too much about what is going to happen, but rather what is going on at the current moment. This calm that Shuun has also helps him in decision making during critical situations as his decisions are not affected by the direness of any situation; this trait is probably what truly helped Shuun become a Captain in the Gotei 13.
- Charismatic - Shuun looks quite young and, frankly, he is a handsome man. However, looks aren't the only things that get people to like you. Shuun also has a loveable personality, which combined with his physical state, helps him easily end up on the good side of people. It is quite rare that people are unfriendly with Shuun, as he always has a friendly personality and does not get annoyed too easily. He doesn't mind lending a helping hand to anyone in need. These qualities help Shuun become quite a magnet for good friends and helpful people, as he is able to lure people in without much work. This trait helps Shuun run his division without any problems as every member listens to him and does whatever he asks them too willingly and without complaint. Sometimes it seems as if they enjoy working under Shuun, something that not many others divisions have.
- Friendly - Most people who have ever met Shuun seem to be cautious at first look if Shuun isn't smiling because he looks more serious than he is. However, people who have ever talked to Shuun know that he is rather kind and compassionate, willing to help people if they need it and doesn't mind talking and listening to anyone, even if they aren't in his division and even they are a lower rank than himself. Sure, if people try to insult him Shuun wouldn't be too inclined to help them, but he is usually willing to forgive and forget. It is quite easy for Shuun to make friends, as he doesn't have to know people for that long to become friend with them. This often leads to Shuun having many allies who would help him if he was ever to be in need. This also leads to many Shinigami to come to him if they ever have a problem in their lives because they know Shuun is the type of person who would listen to them and give them advice.
- Leader - Even though most know that Shuun is friendly and kind, they also know that he is no pushover. He is nice, but that does not mean that he will let anyone undermine his authority. Though it doesn't happen much, there is always that one person who tries to take advantage of someone's kindness, and Shuun is definitely not one to let that happen. He asserts his authority over others, though does it in a very subtle way and does not force his power on to others. But if someone was to try to take advantage of him, Shuun would not hesitate to show said person who is in charge even if it required a little force. Also, Shuun feels as if he is more responsible for his Division than any others, so he makes sure that all of his members present themselves in a uniform manner and do not do anything to put a mark on the division's reputation. Almost all of Shuun's subordinates comply willingly, but occasionally someone will act up and Shuun is sure to chastise that person quickly and efficiently.
- Laid Back - As long as everything is going smoothly and nobody is having any troubles, Shuun is rather laid back. He doesn't mind what his division does as long as they get their work done on a timely manner and do not act up to disrepute the division. Shuun himself enjoys just relaxing and having a few drinks when he doesn't have any work to do, and can sometimes be seen just laying back on the roof of the 11th Division's Headquarters and just staring up at the sky having some sort of alcoholic beverage next to him. Other times Shuun can be seen playing poker or some other form of gambling with his subordinates in the headquarters. The way Shuun sees it, if everything is going well, there's no reason to worry.
Shuun's appearance is quite distinct within Soul Society, even amongst Captains, and it is quite simple to pick him out from a crowd. One thing that stands him out from the rest of his comrades is his extremely long, black hair that comes down to his chest; a definite oddity among the males in Soul Society. Much of his hair falls on top of his eyes, leaving many to wonder how he can even see where he is going. However, it doesn't seem to pose that much of a problem to Shuun, as his vision is absolutely clear even with all of the loose strands of hair falling past his face. Above Shuun's eyes are thin, black eyebrows that seem to give him a more sincere and determined look, despite how his personality really is. Shuun is always seen with his hair loose and flowing naturally, never taking much time to comb it down as it seems to work itself out without any actual help. The only time Shuun would ever tie up his hair is in an extremely critical situation in a battle where he is extremely serious; only once has this ever happened before in Shuun's whole life.Zanpakuto Spirit:
Another physical attribute that truly sets apart Shuun from anyone else is his eyes. His eyes are a deep, almost crystal-like amethyst color that are greatly accentuated in the light, but also seem to give off a light shine in the darkness. This color contrasts his hair as well, making his eyes seem even brighter than they actually are. An interesting quality that Shuun's eyes have is the ability to portray his emotions quite well. They easily show how Shuun is feeling at the moment without Shuun even having to say a single word. When angry, his eyes seem to narrow down and the hue of his eyes seem to deepen greatly; this itself often undermines the courage of anyone who wishes to speak to him in an angered state. When Shuun is in an elated state, his eyes seem to look very gentle and compassionate, and the colors of his eyes seem to change from a sharp, deep color to a soft color.
Shuun has a very lean body with toned muscles that seem to compliment that frame of his body. He is definitely not the strongest man in Soul Society, and does not display massive muscles anywhere. However, this is because Shuun does not excel in strength, but in speed. Shuun weighs nearly one hundred and seventy pounds, most of this weight coming from his height. Shuun also has a very angular face with a rather prominent jaw line that contributes to his sincere look that slightly contrasts with his actual personality, oddly enough. He has a very slightly tanned complexion that is his natural skin color, and it doesn't vary during the seasonal changes in Soul Society. Upon his left breast Shuun has a tattoo of a Hindu symbol meaning "peace" in black. All in all, Shuun has a straight, well toned body with a decent amount of muscles, though most of his training is focused on his legs due to the nature of his physical affinity, and to his swordsmanship.
In terms of clothing, Shuun likes to be different. He wears a skin tight black shirt underneath the rest of his clothing, covered by a sleeveless black kimono that has intricate red designs all along the sides of it. On top of this is finally a white Captain's hakama, though it differs from the others because it is also sleeveless, and the patterns are also in red instead of the standard black. The 11th Division Symbol is woven on the back of the hakama in black and red. Below his waist, Shuun wears a pair of slightly loose pants that slightly flare out towards at the bottom when it reaches the ankles, and is also black. However, the bottom ends of the pants are capped with red cloth. Around his waist is a sash that is a deep red color that is tied off towards that side, leaving some extra cloth of the sash loose at the end. On his feet are a pair of black-dyed wooden sandals and black socks, finally completing his normal Shinigami outfit. His Zanpakuto is kept on his left hip in an intricate sheath; it is jet black in color with the kanji for "Kitsuneki" engraved on the front of the sheath in red.
Jewelry is something the Shuun seems to enjoy wearing as well, though not anything to flashy or ornate. He wears a single silver loop earring on his left ear right on the lobe. He also wears a silver chain necklace around his neck without any pendant; simply just the chain. Around his right wrist is a chain bracelet, and upon his left hand, Shuun wears a s single silver band around his ring finger that is inlaid with alternating thin-cut onyx and ruby stones. As for any scars that are on Shuun's body, there aren't many. The only noticeable one is on that stretches from across the bottom of Shuun's left shoulder blade down towards the bottom of his spine right above his pelvis; obviously this is only noticed when Shuun does not have any upper body clothing on.
Spirit Decription: Kitsuneki usually takes the form of a large fox with deep russet colored fur. She can take the form of a pale skinned, very thin woman wearing a traditional Chinese garment. She wears wooden shoes with this outfit. She has dark scarlet hair that goes down to her knees. She usually has this pulled up in a high ponytail to shorten the length and make it easier for her to move around. Kitsuneki's fingernails are usually painted a blood red color as well as her toenails.Sealed Zanpakuto:
Inner World: Kitsuneki's inner world is a field at twilight just after a heavy bloody battle. There are no casualties in the field, only blood stained flowers, weeds, and other grasses. The field is surrounded by enormous oaks with blood stained leaves. The sky seems to be flooded with despair of fallen warriors and a creek flowing nearby does not flow water.
Sealed Description:Shikai Description:
Kitsuneki is not like a normal katana even in its regular form. The blade is longer than a regular katana, reaching three and a half feet, and is a pure black color. The blade is straight, though as it reaches the tip end, the blade curves ever so slightly upwards. On both of the flat sides of the blade, large kanji symbols spell out 'Kitsuneki' in a blood red color, engraved in to the blade itself. The guard of the katana takes the shape of a fox's head with its mouth open and the handle of the katana coming out of the mouth; the whole guard is a deep red color. The hilt is also pure black, and is rectangular in shape and rounded at the base, like most other katanas. Out of the butt end of the hilt, three loose ornaments are attached which take on the shape of three red fox tails.
With the calling "Ame Ketsueki [Let it rain blood]", Kitsuneki's shikai is activated. A shadowed cloud surrounds Kitsuneki, making it nearly impossible to see the transformation that takes place beneath the darkness. Kitsuneki splits into two separate blades, both entirely identical except for the color of the blade. The left blade is an obsidian black color, and the right blade turns to a crimson red, as if dyed by blood. On both of the katanas, the fox-mouth guard seemingly turns around as the blades now sprout out of its mouth instead of the handle. The loose strands on the butt of the hilts become a single, elongated spike that match the color of each sword's blade.Shikai Abilities:
Bankai Description:
- Chishioshiki [Blood Funeral] - This ability is a passive ability that Kitsuneki has, and stays activated as long as it is not sealed again. Chishioshiki is an ability which has drastic effects after a certain amount of contact to an opponent. Whenever either of Kitsuneki's blades comes into contact with blood, it infects it with an enzyme which slowly blocks blood flow to the part of the body that came in contact with Kitsuneki. Even a small cut is affected by this ability, though the effects only last as long as a day. Each time Kitsuneki makes contact; more enzymes are injected, causing the blood flow to slow over time. At first, the opponent may not feel anything, as small cuts do not make too much of a difference. However, the effect builds up, and the more contact Kitsuneki has with an opponent's blood, the worse the condition gets. Effects usually range from slight slowing of reflexes, to numbing of muscles, to inability to move certain parts of the body.
- Akamoya [Red Haze] - Akamoya is a rather simple ability, though it is quite effective when used. Raising one of Kitsuneki's blades in the air, it disperses almost immediately into an engulfing red cloud that is so dense that it is nearly impossible to see through, even with the keenest. However, Shuun is able to locate opponents within the cloud through heat signatures produced by the bodies within the cloud, a secondary effect of Akamoya. This is usually an ability Shuun saves for difficult opponents, as it often allows him to come in with rather swift destruction.
- Makai Genkaku [Hell's Illusion] - Once an opponent locks eyes with Shuun, he can activate this technique. Raising his swords slowly, Shuun produces a sort of strange illusion, making the opponent see blurred images of Shuun's movements, almost as if everything they were seeing was pictures moving in a constant movement. This ability, however, allows Shuun's to make the opponent think that they are seeing Shuun directly, where in fact their minds are processing what see about 3 seconds after the actual event happens. This allows Shuun a full 3 seconds to attack while the opponent still thinks that Shuun is standing in front of them.
Releasing Kitsuneki with the phrase "Shou Joukai [Destroy Heaven]", Shuun slams both of Kitsuneki's blades into the ground. The ground splits as an ethereal black and red light emits from the cavity in the ground. Nearly instantly, red sand begins to erupt and within seconds, a three mile radius is covered with 16 feet of this red sand. A massive dome covers the entire effected area, almost making it impossible to break out of even for the most skilled shinigami.Bankai Abilities:
Skill Level: Kidou: Intermediate
- Hissori Ansatsu [Silent Assassination] - This is Shuun's primary ability when Bankai is activated. Within this red sand, Shuun is able to 'meld' into the ground, basically dispersing the spirit particles he is made up and fusing them with the sand, which is, in essence, and extension of himself. Shuun is then able to reappear anywhere within the red battlefield created by his Bankai nearly instantly. This makes for another way to attack him opponents swiftly and effectively without worrying about counterattacks.

History/Background:
Born into a wealthy and prosperous family, Shuun never really had any troubles in his life. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, right in the city where wealth and power was everything. Lucky for him, however, that his family had both. Shuun was brought in to the world as the youngest of three siblings: one brother and one sister. Being the youngest, he was always the “favorite” of the parents. Sure, because they had all the money they wanted, all three of them got spoiled. However, it seemed that Shuun was the one who was most spoiled out of all three. That didn’t go to say that he was a spoiled brat: he knew he was rich but didn’t flaunt it to everyone. That being said, Shuun and both of his siblings, Akero, his brother, and Yui, his sister, had a very close relationship and always had each others’ backs whenever either of them got in any trouble. They spent a lot of time together and often hung out with the same group of people.
When Shuun entered middle school, he easily became one of the more “popular” kids for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he was very charismatic and made friends quite easily. Secondly, he was rather athletic and enjoyed playing sports, always being the “first pick” of the team captains when playing sports on the playground. Finally, he had the biggest house out of anyone and the most to do at his house. Whenever someone came over, they never seemed to get bored as there was a constant supply of entertainment where Shuun lived. On top of that, all of the other kids’ parents were happy because Akero and Yui would pick up their kids and the parents did not have to drop their kids off or pick them.
Shuun then transitioned in to high school, where everything began to change. His lifestyle stayed the same; he was still rich and his family was still a prominent figure in their society. He still led the best of lives and enjoyed every day. But what started to change was the way he was living life. Instead of just having a couple of friends over and playing some sports or going to swim in their indoor pool, Shuun and his siblings started to throw big parties in their massive estate when their parents went out of town. Not only did Shuun have guys as friends, now girls were involved as well. Shuun became known for the amazing parties he threw. One of the main things that brought people to his parties, however, was the availability of alcohol. Shuun always supplied it, even though they were all underage. This was thanks to his siblings, once again, who didn’t mind helping out their little brother.
As Shuun grew older, he continued to live in this same way: his parents would supply him money, he would blow it all on just having fun and would hardly do any work. Finally, his parents were fed up with it, and told Shuun that if he didn’t start concentrating on his studies, they would no longer supply him with money and whatever else he wanted. Obviously, being a college-student at this point, living alone, Shuun didn’t pay much attention. He continued to do what he wanted to and just enjoy life, not bothering to pay attention to his studies. His parents even gave him another chance, but Shuun didn’t actually believe they would do what they aid. Alas, they did, and Shuun no longer had any way to pay for his expenses. He tried to find a job at first, and even stuck to one for about two weeks, only to find that he didn’t get paid enough to cover the costs of his expensive lifestyle. Now Shuun began looking for an easy way out.
Naturally, this led to Shuun getting entangled in the drug dealing business. At first he started small, making a decent amount of money every week; enough to cover his expenses and still have some money left over for some extra things here and there. And this point, Shuun cut off all relations with his family, deciding that they obviously didn’t love him enough if they didn’t even bother to continue sending him money, which was definitely not the case. In fact, what Shuun did not know was that his parents had actually dispatched a small police force to look for Shuun and bring him back home, as all of them were worried about him, though Shuun did not know it.
Two years later, Shuun became quite good at his profession. He was starting to even build a small drug dealing empire and had people working under him. However, at the same time, Shuun’s parents had the police looking for him, now unknowingly chasing a criminal. Seeing as Shuun did not have any run-ins with the police thus far, he did not think that he was even a suspect or even being looked for. However, the truth was far from that. And finally that fateful day came. Shuun was simply walking on the streets of Tokyo at night, passing by large, lit-up buildings, looking like a normal citizen and giving off no indication that was to be suspected. He was going to complete a deal and was carrying drugs on him, but he didn’t think there was any problem. Heck, he wasn’t even looking suspicious, so how could anyone stop him?
The incident went by extremely fast. A policeman was passing by as he recognized Shuun by the way his parents had described him. Thinking that Shuun was being arrested, and not simply just about to be returned home by the policeman, he ran as fast as he could. At this moment, that same policeman knew that Shuun had to be guilty of something if he had decided to run. He immediately started running after Shuun, a gun in his hand and drawn. Taking great aim, the policeman took a shot at Shuun, firing a hole right through his hamstring, causing Shuun to stumble and fall, clutching his leg. The policeman grabbed him and brought him back to the station.
Shuun was found carrying the drugs and was immediately placed in prison. That same night, word had gotten out about Shuun’s capture. Obviously, being a prospering drug dealer, Shuun had enemies, and they were quick to find an opportunity to rid themselves of an enemy. That night, Shuun was shot inside his prison cell and found the next morning by the police, laying in a pool of his own blood; dead.
Shuun opened his eyes for a moment, everything very blurry. He looked down at himself and saw an odd chain latched on to his chest that did not bind him anywhere, but was simply hanging off of his chest. He was quite confused and in a daze. He then saw a black figure appear in front of him. He looked up for a moment, and before he even had a chance to say anything, he felt something tap against his forehead as his body began to feel like. He was thrown into a very euphoric state and felt great warmth, and what happened after, even he did not know.
Next thing Shuun saw was a small town looking place, where most of the civilians were in rags. He was lacing face down on a dirt path. He tried getting up, but clutched his stomach as his hunger brought him to his knees. Finding some inner strength, he got up and walked around, trying to find out where he was and where he could find something to eat. People looked at him awkwardly and told him he was in a place called Soul Society, but they walked away from him when he told them he was hungry. Finally, after going two days without food, Shuun fainted from exhaustion. Whatever his fate may be, he'd accept it.
Next, Shuun was woken by a man in black robes, standing with a basket filled with fruit and bread. Without even asking who the man was, Shuun took the basket and started to voraciously devour the food. The man in black merely looked at him and smiled, but didn't say anything. When Shuun was done eating, the man took a seat next to him. He explained to Shuun that he was in Soul Society, a place people come after death. Shuun was actually quite surprised, especially when the man started to tell him all about Soul Society and Seireitei, and most importantly, Shinigami. Only then did Shuun figure out this man was a Shinigami. He told Shuun that only people with Reiatsu could feel hungry, and that because of this, he had to come to Seireiti with him to test his abilities and possibly become a Shinigami himself. The whole idea astonished Shuun, but he followed wordlessly.
Shuun graduated from the Shinigami Academy in a mere 4 years, as he already knew how to wield a blade. He was recruited into the 11th Division as a 4th Seat Shinigami when he graduated. For the next 200 years, Shuun honed his skills. He saw his Captain fight, and it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. Ever since then, he had wanted to be like him and become as powerful, or even more so, than his Captain. In these 200 years, Shuun unlocked his Shikai and Bankai with the aid of fellow Shinigami, who secretly helped him. One of them was the Vice Captain of the 3rd Division. After these 200 years, Shuun became quite powerful, and his skill rivaled that of a Captain; it was something Shuun was extremely proud of.
It has been 218 years since then, and now Shuun has taken the position of 13th Division Captain. He still hones his skills, knowing that Shinigami have to always stay in top condition if they are to function well. On top of that, he was a Captain; it was his job to be a role model for the rest of the Shinigami. And so this is where the rest of Shuun’s story continues…
